Theater
The Varsity Theater shows many art/independent films that normally would not play in Ames otherwise however, They do play many mainstream films as well. Each Fall and Spring they run Midnight Shows of older film favorites. They offer the Cheapest Rate in town for students ($4.25 for ISU students with their ISU ID) The Theater encourages Customer Feedback and is always asking for suggestions and comments. Ideas for art/indie films,midnight shows or anything else you would like to see happen at the theater can be directed to the General Manager by stopping by and dropping a suggestion in the theater's suggestion box or by emailing them at 319@cinemark.com

I love this theatre. It may be old and there have been problems frequently with the projectors. But what do you expect from projectors that are probably older than I am? I love that they play indie films and documentaries. And I adore the staff. They are always polite and willing to help out with any problem. I never have to wait long for them to run upstairs and fix a problem if they movie stops or is out of focus. This theatre is an absolute joy.

A little pricey, but midnight movies are fun to go to.

The Varsity is Awesome. yeah its older than my grandma and the screens are tiny, but where else am I going to a documentary on "wheelchair rugby" or a midnight showing of "A Clockwork Orange" with a small crowd of people who are really into the movie? Parking in Campustown is a pain though.
