Vesuvius Wood-Fired Pizza

I‘m a huge fan of Vesuvius pizza! I‘ve never been disappointed by the quality of the food or service. I feel like the size of the pizza and amount of toppings is spot on - if anything, I‘m often a bit too full after eating here, but the pizza is so good that I want to eat the whole thing. This isn‘t typical American pizza, obviously - it‘s better!

Best pizza in town....hands down! It‘s about time Ames got a good gourmet pizza in town! And the people behind the counters are cool and friendly (much like the Jimmy John‘s crowd). I love this place and have eaten most of their varieties...nom nom nom!

So, the pluses. The crust is very good. The toppings are delicious. However, these are heavily outweighed by the fact that you crave much more of the toppings than what is given. For $10, I should feel full after eating a pizza. however, I feel like I could make a better version of their pizzas at home, minus the wood fired taste. This place has potential to be better if they don‘t skimp out on the toppings. Again, good taste and quality, but I feel like I should have gotten more for the money I spent.

This place is great! My husband and I eat here regularly. We each get our own pizza and leave feeling full, but not over stuffed and miserable like we do with other pizza. The high quality ingredients and neopolitan style set it apart from other pizza places in Ames.

The food was very good. They only offer a "personal" size pizza, but it is very large. Plenty for one person. Not a lot of variety to the menu, but the ingredients they do use are unique and interesting and gourmet. Overall, it is great food, but somewhat pricey. You get what you pay for and here you pay for high quality. I am going back again and I would recommend this to a friend.

Really, really good.

More expensive than other Ames places but worth every last penny...on a different plane entirely from other "pizza" places in town.
