What the Royal Café lacks in atmosphere it makes up for in service and food. I was recently there on a Wednesday night and was delighted to discover that they serve Kumla and ham (a Norwegian/Swedish dish of ham and potato dumplings in gravy) just that night. That was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The other food I‘ve had their was good and the service has always been fast and friendly. The atmosphere isn‘t the greatest though. The restaurant is a little old and dirtier than I‘d prefer to dine in. There was a grease bucket sitting by the door to the kitchen which remained there for the whole hour we were there. It makes me wonder if it‘s always there. Overall, I‘d definitely go back for the Kumla and ham alone.

I had gone to the Royal Cafe in the past, and the food/ atmosphere seemed a little lacking. However, I recently went back and I was pleasantly surprised. They updated the restaurant‘s decor, showcasing the history of the small town and the warm colors were very inviting. I also thought the food was delicious, it was like home cooking but exponentially better than anything I could have ever dreamed of cooking. The service tied it all together, my waitress was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Great place all together. Definitely worth a second look if you haven‘t been there recently.

This was the last place my family took my grandma before she passed was her favorite place to eat, and my family‘s 1st time eating there. (We don‘t live close by, but wish we did) I thought the staff was very nice and the food was amazing!! We are planning on going back after my grandma‘s visitation next week, in honor of her.

When there the last week. To be fair, I was warned how bad it was. It was worse than that. Bad food, run down place, no service to speak of. The place was empty except for us two and 4 at an other table, but still they were so slow. It took forever to place our order. And, for just ordering hambergers it still took 45-min to get our meal. Then when we were done we waited around for half an hour for our bill and then I finally went looking for our waitress so we could pay and get out. We left no tip.

truck stop food, in town, thought it‘d be a nice local place, turned out to be falling apart, and not real nice.
