Royal Cafe

When there the last week. To be fair, I was warned how bad it was. It was worse than that. Bad food, run down place, no service to speak of. The place was empty except for us two and 4 at an other table, but still they were so slow. It took forever to place our order. And, for just ordering hambergers it still took 45-min to get our meal. Then when we were done we waited around for half an hour for our bill and then I finally went looking for our waitress so we could pay and get out. We left no tip.

truck stop food, in town, thought it‘d be a nice local place, turned out to be falling apart, and not real nice.

to the last two reviewers: you either have no taste buds, are used to crappy food or you work there. Which one is it ?

The best food I have ever eaten!! This waitressing stafff is also fantastic!! I would recommend The Royal Cafe to everyone :)

Yes, the "food" is disgusting, BUT is this not what Story City wants ? Cheap food and large quantities ? There is no lack of good Restaurants in Story City only a lack of people that are prepared to pay for quality food! There has to be a reason why superb Restaurants like the Cottage are closing down or the Old Hamburg Restaurant struggling for locals! So maybe you should stop whining because you will get what you pay for!

Being a Story City Native, I used to order the Kumla and Ham on the occasional Wednesday, until I had the worst restaurant experience of my life. My husband and I were with my parents on a Friday night (steak night). We should have turned around and left right away. The whole room was filled with greasy smokey(not from cigarettes) stinky air. We received our steaks and they were giving off a strange/bad aroma-I took one tiny taste and knew the meat was bad and I had to spit it out. My husband agreed. I told the waitress and she took the food back with no apology. The owner and his mother did not come to the table to apologize either. We both then ordered shakes-which were left on the shake machine for a good 15 minutes during which time a man behind me vomitted in his booth. What was he eating you ask? Steak. The waitress brought our warm runny shakes for which we paid along with my parents bill, and we bolted out of the stinky greasy hole as soon as my parents finished their food. It makes me angry that this place even gets business. The only reason is that there are so few choices in a small town.

Absolutely the worst place I‘ve ever eaten.

If you like grease and microwaved food this is the place to eat.
