Love this place! We go every time we are in Ames for K-State basketball! They probably know us by now!

Dingy and dark, not clean, the food was bad, I won‘t be back.

Worst service ever!! My husband and I went there after a year of boycotting because of the service. Well, nothing has changed except the food is worse! We were seated and waited for 10 minutes before someone came to our table to take our drink order and give us chips/salsa. We were ready to order our food by the time they finally came. We ordered queso to have before our meal but our meal beat the dip. And when they did bring out the queso it was cold!!!! We will never be going back!

We went for the 1st time 2 nights ago and I will NEVER go back! I have heard that the food is SO good, but that the service sucks. Well our experience was totally different. The service was great but the food was HORRIBLE!! My chile Relleno didn‘t even taste like what it was supposed to and the sauce tasted like it was pizza sauce. First thing I said after taking 1 bite was "It tastes like I‘m eating a pizza" My 2 young children and step child would not eat our food. When told that the food was horrible they just said sorry and then rang us up. There was no trying to compensate us for the bad food. This place will get nothing but bad reviews from me and I will spread it all over town!

I went to La Fuente on Cinco De Mayo for dinner for the first time in 5 years after swearing them off due to poor service. I regret giving them another chance. I understand they would be busy because of the occasion. That does not excuse the obvious diluting of the complementary salsa with tomato sause or waiting in line for 30 min to pay the bill. As usual the service was lacking, the food was bland and the drinks were poorly made. I will never go there again. For mexican in Ames only go to El Azteca.

Margaritas are the only good part of this place. I have never had a great meal here. The parking situation is ridiculous and I will never go back...

My boyfriend and I ate here last night and it was TERRIBLE! After they seated us we sat unattended at our table for a good 15 minutes before anyone even came to our table to get our drink orders or give us chips&salsa. Like 5 of the staff were standing around talking and occasionally looking at us it was awkward and eventually the lady who was our waitress (standing 5 feet away chatting the whole time) served us. They messed my order up and were rude when I told them that they did. The food was okay but not worth the price and putting up with terrible service. Go somewhere else for Mexican food. Seriously.

I have to say this is the best Mexican Restaurant I have ever been to...and i have been to several throughout the Midwest. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding!! I will definitely be back!

Very relaxed atmosphere with good food. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is always fast. Huge margaritas are another big plus.

I went to La fuente today and I recieved the best service ever . They are doing a good job.. Margarita‘s were awesome and the Fajitas was down right tasty. I hope to go back soon.

I got the worst case of food poisoning from this place last year. Ordered the pollo chicken, only thing I ate all day and ended up vomiting/diarrhea/EXTREMELY sick for several days after, that night I was the DD and I was the one throwing up on the curb (and the steering wheel...pretty much everywhere).

I‘d only go here for margaritas MAYBE, but don‘t get the chicken unless you want to lose weight (10+pounds in a week).

The food is delicious, fast, and cheap, especially for lunch (I always get the Speedy Gonzales--less than $4 for an enchilada, a taco, and rice or beans). Plus, free chips and awesome salsa! Also, they have a 99-cent lunch margarita (don‘t know if that‘s every day) that is plenty strong.

Cheap, fast, and delicious. What more could you ask for?

I ate dinner here earlier tonight. The food was satisfactory at a reasonable price, but the service was very poor. The waiter only came to our table once or twice for the entire dinner, and each time I made a request he seemed angry to be bothered. This place needs to learn some basic customer service.

We ate there and the food was decent for Veisha, but I‘m pretty sure the server swiped the number from my debit card and then charged $102 on it at a different location. Don‘t let them take your cards into the back to charge them!

I was running errands tonight, and I knew La Fuente was open till 10pm so I‘d have no problem stopping in a little before closing (9:45) to pick up some chips and salsa. The whole restaurant was dark, not a car in sight, closed. I know Monday nights are a slow night but you just lost a customer because I would have easily made it my first stop if closing time was 9pm or whenever. I work in the restaurant industry too and I know it is long hours but I feel a business needs to be open when they say they will be. I feel your prices and food are nice but I will not be eating at your restaurant again just because of my experience tonight.

Mexican food addapted to american taste. Nice place, lot of students there, good for going out, no so quiet for families. Food is good and abundant, but more american-mexican stile. Nice music. Good place for young people. If you like a more quiet place with more autentical mexican food go to cazador, it tastes more similar to the food you can eat in Monterrey, Mexico (I was there last summer). Both places are really good, just different styles.

Best Mexican Food in Ames bar none. Might take the award for 2nd and 3rd best mexican food in town too!!!! Great Prices. Authentic

My uncle owns this restaurant. Our family has been in the restaurant business for more than 20 years. Our food is authentic and not from a can.

This was the worst Meican food ever. I had ordered Enchiladas(Rojas) and I even asked the waitress if it was really authentic for m the can, IT WAS FROM THE CAN. I would consider Taco Bell more authentic than this place. Since when do you put sour cream and American Cheese on an Enchiliada. Horrible JUST PLAIN HORRIBLE..

The food is very good... but the service is bad. Our order was half complete and the staff does not understand what you say....

La Fuente rocks! We live 3 hours away and always go to La Fuente when we visit Ames. Hands down the best Mexican food we‘ve ever had - affordable, delicious, and quick service. Best salsa around - I wish they would sell it. We‘ve tried to find a comparable Mexican restaurant in the Twin Cities and nothing compares to La Fuente. Keep up the great work!

I was surprised how low priced the lunch menu was. Food was pretty good. Didn‘t care for the salsa with the free chips as you are waiting for your food. I know everybody has their likes and dislikes on that--just wasn‘t my expectation on salsa.

Service wasn‘t bad for a busy lunch hour. Waitress brought me the wrong drink twice-no biggie tho. Not a bad place, but not a "ya gotta go there" place either.

a few friends and i went here a few weeks ago and were seated. after 45 minutes, a basket of chips, and a thousand stares from the wait staff/ waiters, we got up and left.

I went up to the hostess and complained about the extreme lack of service, and requested the manager, only to be played by the "I don‘t understand what you‘re saying" gig. Too bad I also speak spanish.

I love to work there! it‘s a blast! the workers are very nice and generous. They have EXCELLENT food, i would go with the nachos or if you eat alot like me:] then i would suggest the elgranda burrito. and the owners are the best. i live by them. jose and benita.

I absolutely love this place. I‘m picky and don‘t get to eat out often, but when I do I want it to be great. At La Fuente I can count on the food to be great everytime. Never a disappointment.

I am very picky with mexican.. and I hate all of Ames restaurants I am from near Chicago and we have amazing restaurants up there, and am sadly disappointing with what Ames doesnt have to offer for food, especially being a college town you would think they would have alot to choose from, but they dont... Maybe thats why they have such garbage food and not alot to offer and what they do have its junk..... BUT!!!!! La Fuente I think is the best Mexican in Ames and tastes most like stuff from home. They give you Alot of food, you get what you pay for, and it comes fresh and very yummy. I defiantly would recommend this place to anyone with a luv for high standard great food, because this is tha best I have sound so far!!!

I have never eaten at any other Mexican Restaurant in Ames because, since my freshman year (I am now a senior) this place has never done me wrong and I LOVE IT! I get a margarita every Wednesday night and eat there at least once a week!

LOVE La Fuente! I have been going to La Fuente since it opened, my mom and I have gone every other week. Now my friends and I make it a rule to go there each time everyone is home in Ames. I love the food, the prices, the atomosphere drinks and service! They get busy for a reason, it‘s amazing!!

Excellent food and it is pretty cheap and you receive a large amount of food.. chile colorado is amazing

love this place!! staff doesn‘t speak english very well but hey.. that‘s what helps make this place authentic! :) they love it if you try and speak spanish when you order. pretty cheap food for what you get!

Filthy Dirty. Smelled of Lysol as soon as you walked through the door. Hard to communicate with employees.

The best mexican food ever. the quality is good the time it takes to get your food is good and there is nothing even in its range that can match or come close. If you really want a kick in the but try the chile colorado its the best!!! 5 stars definitely!!!

For a Mexican Restaurant run solely by Mexican Americans you‘d think the food would be a little more authentic. La Fuente seems intent on preparing their food as quickly as possible to get customers in and out as quickly as possible. Not a bad business strategy... but it is when the quality of food suffers. Sadly, it may still be better than some of the chains. Try the enchiladas or tacos and you won‘t be too disappointed.

Fast service, good prices, the only downfall is that the ames health inspector rated it the dirtiest in ames

Going to La Fuente is our Friday night tradition. Usually we barely have time to eat the chips and salsa before our food comes! The salsa and enchiladas are the best around! I haven‘t found another mexican restaurant that comes close to comparing. The only suggestions for them I have is to do some vacuuming more often and to quicken the line when we pay for the food.

Food is very good and the service is usually quick, but they often forget side dishes. Some communication problems in the past. They don‘t total the bill at your table - that has to hurt the servers on tips?

Great food at really good prices! It‘s a little on the greasy side, but still tasty! Service is also quick, but ya may have to wait to be seated on weekends.

A lot of food for the $, the service is lightening fast, the food is good, the salsa is awesome. The smaller margaritas have just as much alcohol so just get one of those instead.
