Delicious food! Service is typically good, sometimes a little slow despite it not usually being too busy. So glad they came back to Ames!

Chips and salsa are by FAR the best I‘ve had in Ames!

Seated quickly and got chips and salsa right away. Pretty large menu so had to ask the server to give us a few minutes. Placed our order and food came out very quickly. Chimi was loaded with white chicken and had a very good sauce. Husband had Blanco Burritos which he said was very good. Sevice was excellent and very attentive. Glad that they reopened as they are our favorite mexican restaurant in Ames.

I adore their homemade nachos, with peccadillo, and their Camarones a la Diablo are wonderfully spicy. Only once have I been disappointed coming here. Service can be spotty depending on who serves you, but by and large they are very good, and the owner is very attentive and personable. The price is right, the tastes are wonderful, and even my Texan girlfriend found their food to be surprisingly authentic, though admittedly the beans were a bit on the watery side. But I don‘t go for the beans, and what counts the most for me here has always come out good. None of the other Mexican restaurants I have visited here in Ames can come close, and I‘ve been to them all many times before. Good stuff, here.

Service and people are fantastic! Their salsa could be a food group for me, I swear. Their food is always good and consistent, nothing that completely blows my hair back, but also nothing that repulses me either. It‘s definitley one of my favorite places to eat in town. The staff is friendly and professional, the food is cheap, fast, and always hot, and their menu has plenty of variety? Did I mention their salsa? It is muy bueno!

The service was great and the people genial, but the food itself was some of the blandest food I have ever had. The salsa had far more flavor than my actual meal of fajitas.

Went here for the first time last night. Some dishes could be good but not based on what I had. The mexican magnifico burrito was supposed to be beef but they should just call it a rice burrito and not a good one at that.
The refried beans were diluted and tastless. I could have gotten a better meal at even Taco Bell.
I doubt I will be back.

love the ranch eggs...thats, huevos rancheros to most of you. I‘m still at odds between who has the best between Cazador‘s and El Azteca. Both places are decent.

Love the salsa! Entrees are very generous and well priced. Their home made sangria is awesome. We have lived in Ames for around 20 years and for Mexican we go here only!!

we eat here several times per week for the past three years and have never had a bad meal. Great service- treat us like family. Fast unless you go at rush time (after 6pm).

Food is only average. Service is very slow. Prices are too high.

Being Latino myself, I can say this food is great, on par with mom‘s. No joke, I brought her here and she said the same thing! Kind, attentive staff, great portion sizes, and well-seasoned everything (try the mole!) makes this a great local place.

Where to go for good, inexpensive Mexican fare? In Ames your only choice is Cazador. Service is friendly and generally very speedy. The food is a cut above the typical offerings at Mexican restaurants, it actually has some flavor and you always get more food than what you pay for. Thou shalt not leave hungry must be their motto. Drink prices are like most other restaurants, almost too much $$. $3.50 for a Corona? C‘mon.

Real mexican food. I has In mexico last summer, and belive me it was no better than in Cazador. Food is abundant and most important well prepared. Nice place and friendly service. It is my favorite‘s wife restaurant and we go at least twice a month. The place is more quiet than La Fuente, but if you are there for the food, choose Cazador.

The food is good, but they stopped serving guacamole free on their entrees. What‘s the deal? Give me a little smaller portion or raise the price a bit, but don‘t take away my guac!

bad ass... as authentic as you can get without being in mexico.... a great place with very great prices and i like the new remodel it reminds me of my 4 month trip to cancun

Great food. Take too long to bring drinks to you. Usually get your drink at the same time as your food or after your food comes.

Excellent food, relatively inexpensive, more authentic than other local Mexican restaurants. The service is almost always prompt and friendly. I go at least once a week. It‘s a favorite of mine and of my friends. If you haven‘t already, give it a try.

This is my favorite restaurant in all of Ames. I‘ve lived here all my life and now, as a college student, can always afford a great meal at Cazador. My boyfriend and I go weekly. (sometimes mupltiple times a week!) We usually spend around $17 but this is because we always leave a huge tip! Our meal usually costs $11. The free chips and salsa are so good. The service is the best. We have a regular server, Roy, who even once noticed I was sick and coughing and brought me the most delicious hot honey tea I‘ve ever had! The one who left a bad review here should try Cazador again. Don‘t let this one bad review stop you as you‘d be missing out on an authentic atmosphere, great customer service, awesome prices, and DELICIOUS food which comes out extremely fast. Cazador is definitely a 5/5.

Horrible food, I am allergic to onions and we told them that prior to getting our food, and yet they still managed to load those onions on! also the boyfriend ordered his without certain things as well, and still got them all over his food as well...... They dont listen, they take to long, food is soggey and gross, worst mexican I have ever attempted to eat......... Stay away!!!!

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Ames. Good food, good service, great owner, pleasant experience all around. Lunch is the best time to go and they run coupons often. They have American burgers too and a kid‘s menu. The chips and salsa are addictive! At least one free refill on the chips/salsa.

Very yummy food!! Some say the prices are high but they‘re about the same as every other Mexican restaurant. The service is great. I highly recommend it!!

The picture here is from the old location. The new location is near hy-vee liqour and is very nice. This place is clean and the staff is friendly. You will probably spen 10-12 dollars eating here. The dishes and combos are big though and they have good drink specialls making this a good value. While the place costs a little more than what most could spend every meal, it is a great place to go when that sudden urge for mexican food strikes ya.
