My wife and I love Ge-Angelo‘s! We always order the cheese toast and then share the Natomelli pizza. We have never had a bad experience. We have brought many friends in with us and we‘ve always enjoyed the experience and will keep coming back!

I am responding to the posting on May 2nd. My name is Tina Colburn, and I am the owner of Ge-Angelo‘s. I spoke with the table three times because I felt something was not right. The couple did not complain about anything until after they left and called and I spoke with the boyfriend. I refunded their money and apologized for their bad experience. I did explain to him that the eggplant is most likely not the culprit of his girlfriend being sick since it set in so soon. My husband and I strive for great quality and great service and we are very proud of the food we serve. The recipes are authentic Italian. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. We know there are many restaurants in Ames and appreciate all the business we receive. If there is ever an issue when you are at Ge-Angelo‘s please bring it to our attention. We will do what it takes to make it right. Thanks!

DO NOT GO HERE. The worst "Italian" restaurant I‘ve ever been. Went on a Friday night....the service was ok, but by no means impressive. The food was horrible, had the mozzorella sticks as an appetizer, they were unusual and not necessarily in a good way. I had the combination platter (spaghetti + raviolli,) and my girlfriend had the eggplant. The red sauce which is apparently supposed to be good is a watery, poorly seasoned, little flavor, sauce. The sausage link that accompanied the combination platter (along with a meat ball,) was not impressive and seemed to be of low quality. Overall a dissapointing meal I would not recommend. My girlfriend‘s meal, the eggplant, was too thick and therefore undercooked. She too was very dissapointed with the red sauce that accompanied her spaghetti. However the kicker is that after complaining to me about the food, she got sick from it...actually twice. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone in good conscience. Service was so-so and the food was definitely sub-par at best and as far from authentic Italian as one can get, (I studied in Rome for a semester,) even with the understanding that we are in small town Ames.

My boyfriend and I went here a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere was romantic and we had heard the pizza was good. I ordered alfredo and my boyfriend had lasagna. I‘ve had much better alfredo sauce from a jar; it was bland, boring, and tasted like a microwave meal. My boyfriend had a tiny portion of lasagna that was VERY overcooked, dried out, and not enough sauce. However, the cheese sticks were actually pretty good, which sadly had gotten my hopes up for the meal!

The food had little flavor, the menu was unaccommodating to vegetarians or to those who have restricted diets, and the service was sub par. I highly discourage eating there.
