Their calamari is great! A little dark lighting, but it‘s still a great atmosphere!

We always stop by Dublin Bay when we are in town to visit our kids. We have yet to be diappointed. There were 12 of us dining at the restaurant Sunday, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The hostess was very kind in switching our table to accomodate our granddaughters. Our waitress Sarah was very attentive and so friendly. The food was awesome too! Very short wait.
We will be back for sure!! Would love to come up for St Patricks day. Sounds like a blast!

My friends and I are always looking for a good place to eat and the first place we think of is Dubin Bay. We enjoy their happy hour prices and 1/2 off of appetizers is a pretty great deal I‘d say! Familiar faces are always at Dublin Bay and the atmosphere is great to start off any Friday or Saturday night. The nachos are my favorite along with the many beers on tap and full bar incase my friends and I are looking for a change.

We loved this place (6 of us ranging in age from 18 - 78 years old). The waitress was very friendly & accomodating. The prices were good & the atmosphere fine. Our table felt private, we could talk & laugh without needing to ‘shush‘.

I agree, Dublin use to be one of my favorite places to eat.
Now it seems like they care more about making $ than they do about keeping their customers. The last few times I have been there the food and service have been ok at best, not worth the $.

This place use to be great. Unfortunately over the last few years the price has increased and the portions have shrank.
Good service is hit or miss. If it wasn‘t for the lack of good sit down resturaunts in Ames, I don‘t think this place would be popular. The owner obviously cares more about staying rich than he does about treating people fairly.

The food here is great. So is the atmosphere. The only complaint I have is no Bud Light or Mich Golden Light on tap. That is a real bummer.

Blimey, get me some of that fish and chips! Wow. I was really impressed with this place. The food was great. Whenever I find a good fish and chips I stick with it. Nice and relaxing to get a pint there too. The waitress I had wasn‘t all the great. She didn‘t even card me when I ordered my pint. Maybe I just look like an old fart. Anyway, the bartender was friendly. Crescent says try it out. And Blimey! Get me some darn fish n‘ chips! Bollocks!

Dublin bay is sweet. Their menu is different than most and you can always find something new and delicious to try. The staff is pretty excellent and the atomosphere is really laid back.

The food was great. Truely spectacular! Some of the wait staff seems a little lost at times, but the bartenders were great. Eat at the bar for a little better service. The staff seemed to be able to stear me to their favorits and i wasn‘t dissapointed. Not a beer guy and was very happy to get a full strenght drink. They had alot of beers for my friend and he seemed to have some trouble with selecting one but the bartender steered him toward one that he really enjoyed.

The food is delicious, although the portions are smaller than what you‘d receive at other restaurants. The atmosphere is definitely the best of any place in Ames.

The food and atmosphere were great. Service was also good, but I was sitting at the bar buying drinks, so the bartender was very helpful. Chinese food?- hit up Cocost.

I just moved to Ames from Minneapolis and went here the other night. The butternut squash pasta was very good. The sauce was good but maybe just a tiny bit bland. I would go back here again. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food! Still have not had a decent Chinese meal in Ames though!

not the best irish food ever, but decent. the american fare is about as good as you can get in Ames which is why we visit more often then our hankering for corned beef and cabbage and soda bread arrises. plus they‘ve got decent drinks and a great selection of beer. great service too, it‘s hard to not think of the decor as the mexican resteraunt my parents took us too all of the time when i was young, but it is dark and cozy enought to make me forget that once you‘re at the table or at the bar.

It must be the irish cheer, but I always have a great time here. The help is always in good spirits (maybe they were helping themselves to the Guinness) and attentive. I was particularly pleased to see a rather extensive list of Irish menu items. The Boxty is my favorite, and I‘ll be returning regularly to get this unique and traditional item.

Yet another great original restaurant in Ames. The Irish fare is wonderful. The beer is a little expensive, but it is a restaurant, after all. All in all it‘s a wonderful place.

I‘ve never been to ireland myself, but this establishment is about how I‘ve always pictured it.
The full dinners can be a little expensive; I always go for the sandwiches which are under $10 (the Buffalo Chicken sandwich is AMAZING).
Wait staff is nice, bathrooms are clean, etc. All-around quality joint.

This is tops on my list for dining in Ames. It‘s unique and the food is always good. The patio seating on a nice day/evening is a plus.
Their baked potato soup, beer cheese soup, flat bread, irish nachos, shepherds pie, and fish and chips are to die for. Yum! Yum!

One word... Nachos!
June 30, 2006
This place is one of the greats in Ames. I will truly miss it when I graduate. Try the Irish Nachos, the Spinach Artichoke Dip, or the Lamb Stew. They‘re all awesome! The service can be hit-or-miss, but management is always very welcoming and the bartenders are great. Overall, this place is definitely worth trying.

Excellent atmoshpere with great food at a low price. Everything from burgers (nice 1/2 pound slabs of beef) to sheperds pie, if it‘s good stick to your ribs Irish food you‘re looking for, you can find it all at this place. The service is great too. Casual intimate atmoshpere.

Dublin Bay offers a wonderful ambiance with an extensive menu. They offer something for every pallet. Their shepherd‘s pie is the best. They have lots of hearty dishes and some that aren‘t as heavy. They offer a lot in the variety of fish and some seafood as well. One of my favorite places to eat!!
March 21, 2006
Disregard the March 8th post, Shepherds Pie, Boxty, and the Lamb Stew are incredible!!! It doesn‘t stop there, for you desert lovers out there you have to try the Bread Pudding, it‘s incredible!!!

Baked Potatoe Soup ROCKS!!!! Great food, great service, fast friendly, good drinks, good prices.

My one visit there will be my only visit. The food was downright discouraging. Service was great, but that doesn‘t make up for sub-par food.

The people are very friendly, the atmosphere is very laid back, and the food is very good. I have had nothing but good experiences there. It is not too expensive and you definitely get your money‘s worth in food. I think that it is one of the best restaurants in town. If you haven‘t been there you should definitely give it a try. You won‘t be disappointed.
February 8, 2005
This place should be number one. Without a doubt my favorite place to eat. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere.
January 20, 2005
This place has some decent food, but I wouldn‘t call it inexpensive. The lamb stew is pretty good. Don‘t even try going on St. Patrick‘s day, there was a 2.5 hour wait for dinner last year!
January 19, 2005
has a really nice laid back kind of feeling to it
