Colorado Grill

Nice bar & grill. Burgers are very good. Salads OK. Service is usually good to very good. I like to go there when I‘m in Boone.

Here is how we do the Grill.
Start with the Marx Mountain wings, they will knock your socks off, spicy and not greasy.
Order a big tap beer of your choice in a chilled glass.
If you run into our group we will be enjoying some Cobo or Hussong on the rocks with a lemon.
The main dish would be a half salid or the Frisco burger.
We find the bar area to be more lively and the wait staff always friendly. Try it and have a little fun!!!

I come to Boone for work a couple of times a year & find myself at the Grill almost every night.. I never get sick of it.. Its sooo YUMMY ;-)

Best wings around. Get the Mark‘s Mountain sauce. Good beers on tap. Staff is always friendly. Nice bar area.

You might run into the "Mountain Men" who frequent the place in the summer after they train at the nearby Ledges to climb 14ers in Colorado. Those guys are legends at that place. You might be lucky enough to catch them on a weeknight during June and July.

I was in Boone last night for a meeting and ate at this Restaurant. I found it to be a great change from Ames. Something new to try and it is only a 15 minute drive. The hot wings were amazing. The service was great and not long wait at all. My dinner was also excellent and i would encourage people to try this establishment. Jason Thomas, Ames

Great food and friendly people. They have a large selection and variety of food. I love their homemade chili and spinich and artichoke dip.

Excellent environment, excellent food. Will say the speed of service is much better when Jeff is there, which thankfully is most of the time. :) He needs to work on that somehow.
But, we eat there often because of the relaxed atmosphere, good food, and good service. They offer a good variety of specials, too.

No need to drive to Boone for this place if you have a Chili‘s, Okoboji Grill or Applebee‘s in your neighborhood. Do not mistake that comment to mean that it‘s not a very good eatery, just that with the current price of gas, you can get something pretty similar closer to home in Ames or Des Moines. Above average appetizers (white cheddar nuggets and breaded pickles are my fav‘s), above average burgers, good but limited selection of pastas, ok steak & chicken, minimal fish (breaded) and pretty poor salads (think shredded lettuce plus toppings and limited variety of dressings). Limited but average to good selection of beers.

Wait staff is exceptionally friendly and usually also very good. When the owner‘s "in the house," the food service seems much quicker than when he‘s not...thankfully he‘s there frequently. :)

All in all an above average place to eat and I‘d recommend it if you live in or near Boone or are passing through/staying nearby.

If you want to drive 20 minutes to eat in what is essentially an Ember‘s or Happy Chef with a liquor license, come here.

Amazing food. I love this place... the bar is great, the food is great, the people are great. Come here, not story city.

Why are some people make this place look like something special ? Is this part of a campaign? The Restaurant is a place like many others anywhere. If you guys from Boone think you have a unique place, maybe you should consider buying a car and use it to travel to Ames.

Food is great, people great. Great bar. If I rate food as good and waiters good, i would not give one star like the post below.

OK, I traveled from Des Moines to this place. Why I ask myself. The food was good, the waiters ok but I would not make the drive again.

Food is ok, but nothing out of the extraordinary to rave about.

I was in Boone for a meeting the other night and ate at the Colorado Grill. The food was excellent and the service was great. The portions were good sized and the drinks were very reasonably priced. A 15 minute drive from Ames but well worth it!!

Some good and unique menu items at good prices, but the staff has made some mistakes on our recent visits.

Great food! I love the Spin Dip, one of the best amoung many. Great Breaded pickles!!! I go there regularly and the food is always good!! Very consistent!! GREAT SERVICE!!! We normally always have the same waitress but she‘s awesome, even when it‘s busy!

Great food and great drinks. The menu is large and every time I eat there I try something different. One of the best places to eat in central Iowa.

I visited this place after reading the good reviews on here. I really was underwhelmed. I had the white cheddar nuggets of infamy which were good. I would eat here regularly if I lived in Boone but I really didn‘t think it justified a trip from Ames.

Great service and Great Food. The White Cheddar Nuggets, are you kidding me . . . I would kill a man for them. They are that good. I don‘t mind telling you that have the best looking waitstaff I‘ve ever seen. Smoking hot.

Great food! I was traveling west for a business trip and stopped in boone to get lunch and saw the Colorado Grill. The food was excellent, servers were friendly and it was reasonably priced. Definately will be back as it is only 15 minutes from ames!!!

The best restuarant in Boone and better than most in Ames. Worth the drive to Boone. The service was great and friendly. The food was very delicious as well. Will keep going back!

Very good food for a small town like Boone. I drive on Hwy 30 a lot and always stop to eat there.

Definitely one of the best places in eat in Boone. Good food for a good price.

Pretty good. Would compare it to an Applebees or other bar and grill type restaurant. Service can be kind of slow, but one of the few decent sit-down establishments in Boone.
