If you think that this restaurant is bad, you have never lived before. THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN AMES. I have eaten here MANY times before, and believe me, I LOVED IT. I would give this restaurant 1,000,000,000/5 stars if I could, but as you can see, I can‘t. The speed that comes with your food is not matched even by "fast" food places. My personal favorite is Angry Chicken. If you like spicy foods, this is a dish for you. It is delicious EVERY TIME... WITHOUT FAIL! And, hello, if you don‘t taste anything, then add salt (which I have NEVER done before). They supply free salt and pepper for your enjoyment. AND by the way I HAVE NEVER ONCE BEEN ASKED TO PICK UP MY PLATE AFTER I LEFT, AND I‘M PRETTY SURE I‘VE BEEN THERE MORE THEN YOU HAVE! (This is to the stupid person who said you had to pick up after yourself.) Needless to say, I really love this place and can‘t see why ANYONE would hate it at ALL. It is nice on your pocket book as well as your stomach.

I graduated Iowa State in ‘92 and this was my favorite restaurant. When I‘m back in Ames I always stop in if it is around meal time. My favorite is the Almond Chicken!

I have always stuck with the ginger beef but lately have been trying other things on the menu. Was surprised at the variety and quality considering it is so inexpensive and fast. Great place. Also makes the best fried dumplings in town.

Yuck! We read the reviews on here and had such high hopes and were disappointed. We ordered crab ragoons, basil beef and orange chicken. The beef tasted as if it had been cooked and then sat in the fridge for a couple days. The orange chicken was not crisp, it was soggy and had no flavor. The rice was cold, the soup tasted like was dumped for a carton and the ragoons were under cooked. The only good thing was the employees were very friendly and the facility was clean. Not sure if we hit them on a bad day or ordered the wrong thing but we will not be back.

I love this restaurant and always have, even when previous management (on Welch Ave.) used to rush us out because it was busy. We about died when they were closed to move and re-model and we couldn‘t get the Thai Chicken Curry. They have good Thai curry and several unusual dishes. There is hot chili sauce to add to your dishes if you wish. We often do that to kick up the spiciness. For the price, this place is amazing - BIG servings, so I often take leftovers home!! The people behind the counter are very friendly and as someone else said, they always remember us even after many months of not going there! Now, they really, really need to add a high quality Pho to the menu since there is no place in Ames that serves decent Pho!!! Then they would be a great restaurant!

Little Taipei is a campustown institution, and a must for any devotee to Chinese cuisine. Not only is the food excellent, but the menu offers a wide variety for pretty much any taste. Staff is helpful and friendly, and is quick to remember you once you‘ve been there a few times. Most importantly, they are the fastest lunch spot in town, able to provide you with your order fast enough to allow you to eat it and still get back to work or school without having to risk a traffic ticket. In a city filled with Asian restaurants of all varieties and qualities, Little Taipei stands tall!

I ordered the Jum Bong today. The noodles was tasteless and the shrimp was not quite fresh, either. Not authentic Chinese food! If you forgot to take your plates away, they will ask you to come back to clean it up, even though you left already.....

The workers are really nice and will explain any dish to you (since I don‘t know what‘s in a lot of them). While I have heard people say that some of the food is bland, a lot of traditional food that comes from Asia is actually a lot blander than what you think, and the food here is closer to a traditional taste. Also, the place smells so good from all the food when you walk in and has always been clean when I‘ve been in there! Definitely a monthly must!

The new place in Chamberlain St is cleaner than the old one, and food is delicious.

I LOVE LITTLE TAIPEI. I love getting sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken. I also love crab rangoons. I eat them on a weekly basis. YUMMY.

Their Thai curry dishes and Kim Chi rice and fish dishes are very, very good for the price!! We have been going here for many years - ever since they opened in Ames in the 1980s - and we love the fast and quite cheap dishes with plenty of rice here!!!

I have little to say other than that Little Taipei serves consistently tasty and affordable meals. My family (including three young kids) loves to eat here.

of all the chinese places in Ames this is of the top 2. (i know ames isn‘t the mecca of chinnese food, so this still may not be saying much.) Great service, great people, good food and for a good price.

This is the worst chinese restaurant in Ames, I am amazed at the number of people who eat there. I tried it several times, none of the food had any real flavor. All the dishes I tried tasted the same, pork, beef and chicken dishes should not all taste the same. I am surprised they are still in business, maybe some people like cheap food with no flavor.

The food is great, and the price list is impressive, including tax and stuff. self service restaurant, so nothing to say about service. the only thing they can build on is the environment. a bit more light would do good. but if u want to try out great food, try this place!

Little Taipei is the only Chinese food restaurant in Ames that isn‘t a complete ripoff and that is delicious. You get a generous portion of a main dish and rice for $5. They have very fast service and good food.

This place has moved to a new location which is much cleaner and nicer, more seats, too. The food, however, is just average. Sometimes I found the rice is not fresh, sometimes the meat feels weird. Once in a while I have good luck that I feel satisfied about my meal, but most of the time it is not that good. The only thing good about this place is some of their dishes are not that salty and greasy like other Chinese restaurant.

Too bad I am from Taipei, too. But the quality and the taste of the dishes in this restaurant can‘t compare to real dishes in Taipei.

Very good! They use GOOD chicken without fat on it, which is very hard to find at chinese restaurants! DELICIOUS!!!! Try their egg rolls, the sweet and sour sauce is delicious

I don‘t mind it. I heavily prefer May House, but the crab rangoon is sadly addictive, which is the sole reason I eat at Little Taipei so often. As a restaurant it‘s not amazing, but it‘s good. It‘s worth a try.

Try the Tai Chen Chicken when you go here. GOOD!

Is this Mexican or Chinese food? I swear the spice in my fried rice was the same stuff I put on my tacos. The food wasn‘t bad, but it was not very authentic at all. It didn‘t help that the staff was blaring music in Spanish.

Christ just go to the buffet by the movie theater you‘ll get the same low qaulity food just a lot more of it at a cheaper price

The food is inexpensive and usually quite good. The staff is always very friendly. Nice atmosphere.

Not fancy, just good inexpensive food. The orange chicken is noteworthy, it is good and spicy and not breaded like most places.

I ordered shrimp curry and crab rangoon. Both were pretty bland.

This is an ISU institution. Not particularly noteworthy beyond it‘s status as a cultural icon of Campustown, it does cater to the poor college student with generous portions and very reasonable prices.

Great chinese food without a bad aftertaste. Recently moved to much nicer location. Very affordable!

Decent food at cheap prices. Not great, just decent. Service isn‘t the best. They wouldn‘t give my friend an extra plate when he asked, and even offered to pay for it. He didn‘t want to spill on the table. This is a good collage restaurant, cheap and no frills.

I love Little Taipei, but I am frustrated waiting for them to reopen. When will they open???

I called today and they said that they‘ll be re-opening in their new location on the 15th!!

i love this place! i was so disappointed when they moved. the food and service are both awesome, but the atmosphere was one of the reasons i loved it so much!

I Love this place it‘s incredibly affordable and the food is amazing. I‘m having Taipei withdraws due to their move to Cafe Shi‘s old place. I strongly recommend trying this place out.

Cheap and the best orange chicken around!!

This place is great if you‘re looking for a for a lot of food for cheap. The restaurant is kinda small but clean and nice. I definitely recommend them because they‘re speedy and friendly!!

Their crab rangoons and sesame chickens are killers. Mmm...

The food is amazing, especially for the price. I‘ve been eating here for years and never regret it, and it‘s definitely better then any of the other places in town that I‘ve tried.

This has to be the best chinese place around.. its cheap.. its tasty.. and so fast that it seems that ur at a chinese fast food!! if you like something sweet try their gen tso chicken or hot braised chicken.. mongolian beef is also really gooooooooooooooooooood! i know where i am going after work today to get dinner!
