Okoboji Grill

First time at Okoboji Grill was not a great experience and I wouldn‘t go back. The food was ok - minus the hair that came stringing out of my philly cheese steak sandwich. The Chili Con Queso is just some cheese with stringy vegetables in it; there was no chili, if they wanted to just have the cheese and vegetables it should be named CHILE con queso. My boyfriend got the Four Alarm burger and was not happy with it either, it was not spicy or "alarming" at the slightest. The praise themselves on from scratch items, but I very doubt that those items were from scratch. If it was not for the local elementary schools fundraiser there I would have not went there, because of the apperance. Now, having been there I will not be returning.

My experiences with this place has never been bad. I can see how some people see the service as slow. However, to me, the food is worth it. The bourbon burger is to die for. My favorite burger in town.

Food was always pretty good, but much better with the new menu items. Always get good service, and it‘s a fun place to go.

This place is foul. If you make the mistake of going here be prepared to spend allot of money for very little food.
Food is always grease laden and cold, staff is rude and inattentive. Beer tasted and smelled like a skunk.

The food is pretty good. Service is prompt and very friendly. Atmosphere is pretty good. The most enjoyable part of Okoboji is the work ethic of the workers. I haven‘t found any better in Ames.

I‘ve been in the Ames Okoboji Grill three or four times now, and every time has been a let-down. I used to go to the one in Altoona, and that one was great! The service at the Ames one is very slow, and they never seem to care about the customers. Also the same meal I have gotten over and over again in Altoona was seriously half as much food in Ames. The drinks were ok; after we got them.... (we waited for twenty minutes for our drinks before we finally just walked up to the bar ourselves and picked them up- we could see them sitting there waiting!) If you like Okoboji, do Not go to the Ames one, it is not worth it.

We were very disappointed in the meal and service at Okoboji Grill. The waitress took our order, eventually brought our drinks and we didn‘t see her again for 25 minutes when our food finally came.

I ordered the steamed vegetables with chicken breast. What a joke. 5 slivers of squash, 1/4 cup of tatseless cauliflower and broccoli and about 2 ounces of chicken. Cost was about $11.

My date ordered a chicken basket. it came with 3 chicken stirps and 1 cup of fries.

We will not go back.

The food is pretty bland. I think if you are going out with friends to watch a game and get some beer and snacks it is probably good, but for a meal out with friends, you can get much better food for the same price at any of the other local venues - and places like Olde Main still have tvs with games playing.

Okoboji Grill‘s food is great and there services from there awesome waitresses are great!!!!

It‘s just a regional version of Applebees. Nothing really stands out on the menu; the drinks are weak and the food overcooked. Typical bits of nostalgic "flair" on the walls and plasma screen tv‘s all over (which is probably why the menu prices are so high). There‘s better out there, even in Ames.
