The view is nice, but the food is very average and in my experience the service is often slow, even when it‘s not busy.

I really enjoyed Legends. We had a large group and they kept up with us very well. Our drinks were refilled, the food was wonderful, and service was great! The chili cheese fries and the onion appetizers are delicious!

The only reason I ever go here is for the view. You won‘t get anything like it anywhere else in Ames. But the food and service is very so-so -- bordering on terrible depending on your visit. Last time we were there, it was during the break between summer school and fall semester. My steak was not cooked to specification, and on a second try, they still didn‘t get it right. To get to the restaurant, you have to go into the parking garage (stalls are narrow by the way). They share the elevator with the tenants who live in the 7-story building and it‘s a very cheap looking, dirty, smelly elevator. It doesn‘t portray a very good image as you‘re going up to the restaurant at all.

First of all this place was deserted on a friday dinner. Most of the staff was standing around. You would think that meant good service and great food. NO!!!! It took at least 25 minutes for our food and we had to listen to some guy that was "drunk as hell" tell a prospective employee about how good of a restaurant owner/manager he was. I have been to other legends and this one should not bear the name.

I have vewntured into this establishment two times and both visits have been a disaster! The food is borderline...but the service has been absolutely horrific. Very inattentive wait staff. The entree should not be served before the bread and salad are served, should it? Also on both occasions, I ordered a beer off the menu. The first visit they were out of the beer I requested, the second visit the beer was not available in the restaurant. Hey lazy waitress...go to the bar and get it! Duh! Dining dollars do‘t grow on trees, take your money and your appetite somewhere else.

The food is amazing! I love the appetizers and all the burger choices.
The service is great, the hosts are really inviting and the bartenders were great to converse with! Awesome view as well.

watch where you park!!!!! we went to a birthday party there sat nite,and when we came out our vehicle was gone! it had been towed by deckers to the impound. we have only been there a couple times,but this time we parked in a spot that we didn‘t realize was not part of the ramp parking designated to legends. the manager said this happens all the time.we had to pay $155.00 to deckers to get our vehicle out of the impound.this is terrible,what a racket!!!!!

Evidently the unreasonably high menu prices (close to $10 for a hamburger) go to fund the unique view. They certainly don‘t put the money into their food. Both appetizers and main dishes were bland. What the food lacked in taste, they attempted to make up with copious amounts of salt.

We went with a large group on a weeknight, so the restaurant was not terribly busy. The service was substandard. It took over 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. The food took another epoch to arrive. Drinks were not refilled and our waitress was nowhere to be found.

We will not be returning.

Took us at least 20 minutes to get served; finally had to go and tell someone in the front. Food is pretty good, service badly managed.

Lets see. First time I was there, service was great..good was great as well. Second time, I came with a friend and there was only 1 other table. The server looked at us like we were interupting something he was doing..food was still delish..however, get new servers...

My family and I had a wonderful time, kids menu was everything that you could ask for, we go once a week. we all loved the view and service keep up the good work.

The food was fantastic! Service was great! View was gorgeous! The onion appetizer was delicious! I would recommend it to everyone!

Loved the food, the staff was great, perfect place for college town I wish there was one in Iowa City. What a view!

ewwwww legends is disgusting. The food literally makes me ill and the staff is even worse. Great location, too bad the restaurant is such a crap shoot.

I have never had a worst Filet Mignon in my life. The meat was horrible. When I notified my server he commented, that he would let the kitchen know. No offer of a new steak, no offer for a different menu item. When I asked to speak to a manager I waited around 10 minutes at the exit for him. He apologized and told me to ask for him the next time I am there so he could take care of me..... NO THANKS, we are done.

Don‘t understand the negative comments, great tasting food, good portions, reasonable prices AND the view is awesome!

The service was very slow and the staff unprofessional. The hostess had no idea where to seat us and we walked around in circles. I overheard several staff members complaining about their tables to eachother and our server would disappear for 15 minutes or more at a time. The food was decent, but didn‘t overcome the poor service.

This is not the first time we‘ve had this sort of experience here and we won‘t be going back.

The service was okay, but the food left much to be desired. You better go during the day or just plan to look out the window if you actually want to see anything. This restaurant is very dark inside.

Great view, then downhill from there. It has been a year since I have been there, so maybe it is better, but the food was bland and uninspired, service so-so, and it has either been too hot or too cold on multiple trips. Don‘t sit by the window on a sunny day, you will burn up.

Best place to eat in Ames. The food is amazing along with the drink specials!

Great view. Great onion rings. Drinks very, very slow in arriving - they need to fix that pronto. Service is very iffy - sometimes OK, sometimes not.

I took my son there for burgers, and getting over the disgusting building entrance, things turned out fine, even very good. THEN, it hit the fan: really bad food the next two visits, the building only got dirtier, and service was a joke. Oh, but on a good day you can see Gilbert; woo-hoo!

The food has always been decent but the service is horrendous. I‘ve eaten there 3 times and each time they foget to bring the appetizer, take forever on drinks, or just foget about you. I‘ve been a server before and to forget appetizers and drinks kills your bill total so I‘m surprised its such a problem. Location is very unique and a real restuarant with good management would do well there.

Fun place, the view is very nice. French dip and steaks are good. (Not great but for the money quite reasonable) TV‘s everywhere--even in the can. Parking is surprisingly easy in the ramp below.

Service is average, and server a little gross. The food is so bland its hard to believe. god let a real restaurant take this space over someday.

Worst service I ever had, even in ames. Not only slow but I have never been there when my order hasn‘t been wrong. The bartenders and waitresses are inexperienced and the busier it is, the worse quality the food is.

Whoever said this place is expensive must be a poor college student.
2 micro-brew beers and a dish so big I took half of it home (I‘ve got a 200# football player build), for $20.

I‘ll eventually try the food again when they season up a bit. Hopefully the applebees fare will graduate to the level of food the view deserves. I‘d be ashamed to take any out of town guest through the disgusting lobby and elevators. But the servers were nice.

the food is terrible when they are busy, nights and weekends. lunch is ok. the service is not great and the wait is very annoying since there is basically nowhere to sit or stand.

Great and fine for the younger crowd. But my server had her CHEST AND TEMPLE peirced. Not only unsanitary, but GROSS.

take your out of town guests here to impress them. the food is average, the prices are average, but the portions are huge. the wait is highly annoying if it is busy since there is nowhere to really sit or stand except out in the elevator hallway.

Prices like Applebee‘s--and the same kind of fare. HDTV‘s even in the restrooms! You‘ll see Ames like you‘ve never seen it. A nice and unusual place. If you sit at a booth, you can control a small HDTV!

Good food, relaxing casual dinning atmosphere with wide range of prices, plus no other restuarant in town has a view like Legends.
