I went for the second time before break. It was amazing! My friend told me to post on here since there have been a lot of bad ones. She loves tjis place. I had fun! The bartenders were awesome I don‘t know how anyone could complain! They were quick even with the madness from the amazing isu win! The boys working were sexy for cowboys ya know? I didn‘t see the "snuggle tooth bartender" so maybe she got fired? That should make most of you happy, but it was super funny reading all the posts! The door guy was so friendly. I‘m not much of a dancer but I had fun pretending! I will probably come back (keep those tasty drinks coming!)

My friends brought me here last Saturday for the first time and I had an awesome time! Bartenders were friendly and fast, the dance floor was hopping and I got to finally learn to two step. I will definately be back!

I usually love this place, although we don‘t go often enough. We stayed on the main floor for about an hour which was awesome, unfortunately our entire experience was ruined when we went upstairs. The girl who served us was obviously new. She had no idea what was in any of the drinks we ordered. It was frustrating waiting forever for her to make us awful tasting drinks. Not only that but she overcharged us and was extremely rude. This girl needs an attitude check before we will make another stop, thanks

Went there last night for Halloween. Glad we didn‘t stay to long! The door guy was rude and obviously overworked. We went the the basement, I didn‘t get the costume, military prostitute? Upstairs was warm and crowded. So pervert guy kept grabbing me and my friends butts. Next time we will skip this rundown excuse for a bar

I don‘t like going to the bar and spending my money on drinks that are made wrong, luckily the frizzy dark haired girl figured that out and started only charging a dollar for my drinks and shot, since every one was made wrong. Not a bad deal but I‘ll make sure to take my business elsewhere when I need a good drink

Decent place, bartenders (females) need to show more skin. Parking is a major issue. Music is sometimes overpowering. Still gotta love the cattle tho, always an option to herd up and take back to the coral.

Was there this weekend visiting from Texas. Even though we pounded the Cyclones, the ISU fans at Outlaws kept their cool. Great atmosphere and awesome service! The little lady upstairs really knew how to give everyone great service regardless of her having a busy bar! Good music, good dancing, and a good time! Will definitely visit again!

Does anyone here actually know how to bartend. The guys stand around and watch the girls fail to bartend. The upside is the place is fun and drinks are usually way too strong. Which is a good thing here

how old do you have to be to get in to outlaws?

Outlaws is a very country bar and plays country music and in all reality is clean compared to some other places, your feet do not stick to the floor with every step. You can put your arm on the bar without feeling absolutely disgusting. there is enough light throughout to see the person you are talking to. The employees are friendly, but yes they have a job to do. The big Dance floor is my favorite part. and if there isn‘t room on it, you can dance pretty much anywhere and not be bothered by other people. the guys that feel outlaws needs "sexy female bartenders" you are dumb and there are enough sexy girls that go there for you to hit on, bartenders have a job to do. just because you can‘t hit on them to try to get a free/cheaper drink, don‘t be that way.

Why did they switch managers? It was better with Dane, he knew how to hire pretty girls and schedule people the right way. I don‘t want to wait forever in line, then order a drink that neither bartender know how to make, get over charged and have it taste bad..... I will not visit this bar again.

Went Thursday, bouncers were assholes and the people behind the bar sucked. Running around like they have no idea how to mix a drink! Hire some pretty girls. Where did those sexy blondes girls go? The new staff can‘t mix and aren‘t worth looking at.

That new snaggle-tooth bartender is awful. Take twenty minutes to get shitty tasting drink? No thanks...

I ran my card there 4 times in one night, the first time the guy told me $9 I did nto keep the card open i had him run it. When i checked my bank statement the following morning they ran it for $90.00- with out your copy they will not refund you your money the place is a fuckin joke and one of the more dirty bars i have ever been in.

made the city of ames look like terrible. the bouncers here are on a huge power trip. they took my ID when I am way over 21. I have never had this happen in my life. Just make sure when you come here you bring a passport, credit card, picture id, social security card, etc., because this bar is the only bar i know that needs more than your REAL ID. will never go there again, and I agree with pretty much all the other citizens in Ames, this place would not be missed if it was shut down.

I had my brother come here for a weekend. I wanted to show him a good time. He is 23 years old and had his ID taken because the bouncer has an I.Q. of 3. He is the biggest idiot of all time. We had to come back to my apartment and get multiple forms of ID just to get in back. What a moron. I will never go back and I hope this place shuts down. 23 years old and they took his ID. Give me a break. Outlaw you suck. Hire new staff. This time, make sure they know how to count.

It‘s the best bar in Ames but that‘s not saying much at all. This place has a really cool set up with 3 different levels, a good size dance floor, and a deck outback for smokers. Prices are normal for Ames but I still don‘t understand why there needs to be a $5 cover.. I like country music but this bar would be much better if it played more than just country. I‘d say this place is worth checking out if you‘re in Ames considering there really aren‘t that great of choices for you in this small town.

Place Fuckin sucks. Strike one, not letting friends in for being "too drunk" strike 2, Taking my real ID because it was "fake" ? okay, thats strike 2 and 3.
Nice layout, shitty music, shitty people.
Please sell this space to someone who can utilize the setup better and not hire jackasses.

The bouncers are AWFUL!! Make sure you have two forms of identification because getting into this bar is like getting into the Pentagon. Once you‘re dancing it‘s a good time! Fuck the fat bouncer! Go to HELL!!!!

The staff is extremely rude. I have never been treated so badly by bar employees in my life!!! I will never go to this bar again, and I went in with a super positive attitude to begin with! The dance floor is EXTREMELY small and if you actually know how to two-step/dance to country music at all, the space on this dancefloor won‘t be satisfying.

Love this bar. The people are great, country music, and best of all, country dancing.

This is the best bar in ames. The door guy is awesome everybody is partying and the drinks are cheap. Not to mention the girls and country music. Hate to see here go but love to watch her leave!!

I found the atmosphere in this bar to be very upbeat. Everyone I saw was havin a great time. The drink prices were very reasonable, especially on this college kids tight budget. The people there and employees seemed to be friendly and nice to talk too. I will definately be back to this bar!

Employees stole from me and when confronted would not return items. Horrible atmosphere and I would never go there again.

Good place, kinda loud but definately a good time

Great wood dance floor, great prices on drinks, great music. The no paper towels in the bathroom was pretty gross though. I guess when we go again I‘ll just bring my own soap and paper towels :-) The place kind of reminded us of the Wormy Dog in Oklahoma City. We‘ll go back.

The BOUNCERS at this bar are a big piece of crap. I am 28 years old and they wouldn‘t let me in with all my friends cause they thought I had a FAKE I.D. I will never go back to this place ever again. Thanks to them I have to go to the courthouse and get a new I.D. because they would not give mine back.

If your looking a great atmosphere and good service this is the place. most people know that everybody goes there towards the end of the night. Everybody that hates this bar are the stupid people that think they can get away with anything so they get kicked out. seriously grow up.

If your going to Outlaws, you must bring your cowboy hat, cowboy boats, license plate size buckle, and get out of your 4 wheel drive jacked up pickup that you went mudding in the day before. This is the last bar to go to if the other bars are full!!

This was a really fun bar but the bouncers they have working there now are on a power trip and they suck.

Great bar! This place has good specials, the staff is a good time, and the bartenders actually know how to make a good drink. This place has it all, when the basement is open it is the best chill bar in ames (doesn‘t only play country music), and if you want to dance you can go upstairs!

I really, really wish that the biggest building in campustown wasn‘t a country western bar. Nothing incredibly special about this bar at all.

I love this bar. It‘s my kind of place. Just strollin‘ around the dance floor puts a big smile on my face.
