Paddy's

One of my favorite bars on Welch. College bar no doubt about it with occasional passer throughs on business trips. I feel that this bar is a neutral place for just about anybody. All sorts of crowds here: jocks, preps, hicks, nerds, and so forth. I have spent a lot of time here in my undergrad days and go back for football games.

Bar is always packed on Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays by about 10 pm. Floor is very sticky and the bathrooms may as well be five gallon buckets. Service in my opinion is decent. I recommend this bar to anybody wanting a good college town bar experience.

This place smells like ASS. And you get a whiff of it as soon as you step in the door. It is NEVER clean. The floor is sticky, so don‘t where flip flops.

The crowd is one of the better on Welch until everyone is drunk. Good mix of people.

Don‘t attempt the bathroom.

The addition of the new back side bar has been really nice. Free pool tables, peanuts and popcorn has been a big draw for my buddies. However he prices usually the best in ames with the exception of legends new deals. this is a great place for fac. Only thing i would like is if they re did the bathrooms. otherwise my favorite bar and great for groups

Service is terrible and the bartenders don‘t appear to have any experience at all. They also clearly dont clean this place ever either, if you stand in one spot on the floor for too long you will stick to the floor. The only reason I gave it two stars because the bartenders can be easily confused into giving you free drinks or a discount if you order a lot of drinks all at once or just mumble your name at them if you have a tab and they wont be able to figure it out in order to charge you.

Paddy‘s is a pretty sweet place to go! The few times I find myself on Welch Ave I always go to Paddy‘s. The staff is great and their specials are ! Would be nice to see a little more of an "Irish" feel to the place but its definitely an awesome bar!!!

I have tried on numerous occasions to like this bar, and every time I‘ve gone I‘ve been disappointed. One time I ordered a shot that I created while bartending in my home-town. I told the bartender how to make it. Within 10 minutes he gave a round of free shots to the people at the bar (except me mind you) claiming that he had just "created" that shot on his own. Douche...

Also another time I waited 40 minutes on a drink, and in that time period the bartender served their friend 3 times. After those 40 min last call came around so I was finally able to order a drink. After waiting (AGAIN) the bartender told me he forgot all about my drink and I had to leave because they were kicking everyone out.

Hands down. Worst bar on Welch.

Always have had a great time here. Sometimes it takes a while to get a drink, but that‘s what you get on a very busy night out at a very busy bar. Good place to hang out and play free pool.

The staff is rude, especially doorman. It takes way to long to get drink most nights. The envirment isn‘t bad. I agree the bathrooms are disgusting. Drink special are legit. If they made a few changes with some of the staff, it wouldn‘t be too bad a place.

I wouldn‘t waste time here or at Mickey‘s. Paddy‘s is slow no matter how nice or how big of a dbag you are to the bartender, Mickey‘s has no specials at all. Nothing authentic about any of these two bars as far as I‘m concerned to be an authentic Irish Pub. And BTW, quit with the Kitten Mittens and Sunny References, you‘re as stupid or worse than the actual cast! Go to either Cy‘s or Eas Tas.

By far best bar down town. Easy going crowd, good music selection and fast consistent bartenders. I‘ve never waited more than a couple minutes for a drink, the guy that has to wait 10 is most likely the one waving money around and shouting, I see those kind of people skipped over a lot, but they deserve it :).

Paddy‘s is a pretty fun bar overall. Great drinks, good service, and lots of room to sit or dance. My only complaint is how disgusting the bathrooms are, which are even worse than the usual college town bar.

I love this bar. Free pool, cheap drinks, great hangout with friends. I have never had an issue with bartenders, unlike some people on here. Also, music selection is the best variety in any bar in campus town.

There is a reason Paddy‘s has been the place to be over the last full year. Fun staff if you talk to them. Only 4 bartenders in a small area so sometimes its hard to get a drink on a busy night, but those bartenders look like they are a sweaty mess from working hard to serve everyone. Also, I‘ve seen them pass over whiny girls or other people who are rude to try to get a drink, which is always funny.

Has a decent floor and has some good deals. However, Bartenders are extremely slow. It takes 10+ mins to get served every single time. They often skip people. Yes I know its difficult to be a bartender and get everyone, but they appear to serve certain types of ppl more frequently and with more speed.

Whether people like it or not. This is by far the busiest bar in ames. It stands alone as the only powerhouse on welch right now. Great easy going crowd and fun atmosphere..

Has been my favorite bar in Ames for the last 5 years and will always be. Friendly staff, great drinks, and fun music are a winning combination. I‘m glad to see this bar is back as popular as it used to be!

The "bigger" guy is a great bartender-never have to even say what you want if you come in on a regular basis!

Paddys,...usually nice service..except theres a bigger male that is a bartender that is the biggest a*sshole in Ames...

I personally dislike this bar. It is dirty, the staff sucks, and the environment is generally crap. There are much better places in Ames to spend your hard earned dollar.

I tend to enjoy Paddy‘s much more than other campustown bars. It‘s always busy, on a good night, so be prepared to either get there early or lean against a wall all night. If you don‘t like big crowds or if you can‘t jostle for a drink at the bar, this isn‘t the place for you.

Also, make sure to wear shoes that won‘t slip on the wooden floor/spilled beer/peanut shells. Just something to keep in mind...

Always a good time! There‘s always a place to sit and Tuesday nights there are 2fers, you can‘t go wrong there!!!

This place is great. Good music, good drinks, good bartenders who know what theyre doing. Just heard theyre having live music on thursdays and not the crap they have elsewhere, band on the warped tour! Come here if you want to have FUN!!!

dirtiest bar in campustown. Was in there on a tuesday night and the bartenders were very rude and would only serve people they know. go here if your not looking for a very good time.

If you like noisy bars and rude staff, Paddy‘s is the place for you! Drinks are too expensive and the place seems to be a Greek hangout/meat market.

Paddy‘s is the worst bar in Ames. It might seem cool once but soon you‘ll notice that the same assholes are there every night trying to fuck your girlfriend. Sweet. A perfect place for sluts and horrors.

This place sucks for the most part. Their karaoke tues is alright but it takes forever for a drink most of the time, specials usually suck, and their wells are so poorly mixed you will wonder if there is any alcohol in them. They also have pool tables right next to the bar so when you play on those tables, everyone waiting at the bar will be in the way....and there is always a good crowd waiting.

An Irish bar with no Jameson and no Bushmills. A college bar with out drink specials. Never going back

It‘s a nice enough bar, I guess. But if this is an Irish Pub, then I‘m a Mexican bandleader.

this is a fun place to go to. the bartenders are nice and eye appealing. the guys walking around working seem nice but quite. the drink specials suck but i like acually getting what i order. instead of the bars that charge cover and give free drinks that taste like gas. Fun friendly place to hang out with friends.

It is all about who you know at this bar and I know them all! Gotta love it! The staff work their butts off all night long so give ‘em a break and tip well! The long line is worth the wait!

What‘s worse: standing in line to get in or standing in line even longer to get drinks? If you‘re a guy, don‘t even think about getting served. Why go back?

This is the easist place to chill with friends. Lots of room and very friendly staff. Get to know them! Don‘t expect special favors if you come once a semester. You know the bar is a good time when they form lines on off-nights.

Paddy‘s is my favorite bar in town! My friends and I always have a good time there. Besides, who doesn‘t like free peanuts?

Paddys has a bunch of racists. They suck and so does Paddys. Whats the fun in eating free peanuts(their only special). This bar should be closed. It supports underage drinking and drugs at the bar. You have to wait for 20 minutes to get a drink. Their staff is gay, specially the barbacks. I suggest everyone not to go to Paddys.

Don‘t expect to get served unless you are one of the following;
1. A young hottie (opposite the sex of the bartender you approach)
2. One of the bartenders friends
3. Dropping HUGE tips

I cringe when people say they‘re going to Paddy‘s. Stay away, it‘s not worth the lines.

+ $2 tips= $8 (I left the 50cts on the bar each time I got a beer)

Me thinks the bartender can‘t count. I must have got $10.50 back in change when I broke my $10 on the first beer.

There is no outdoor seating at Paddy‘s

The atmosphere in Paddy‘s is horrible, and the bartenders are the rudest, most egotistical bastards around. Paddy‘s is definitely the worst bar in Ames.
