Capone's

I went there last Friday with some coworkers for a couple drinks. The bar tender was terrible and only paid attention to the 2 skanks dancing ON THE BAR.
I left my card there since I left in such a hurry. I get home and check my bank account and realize they charged me $15 for ONE drink. I understand they have a $10 minimum, what I don’t understand is why the the shitty bar tender gave himself a $5 tip. I was pissed and went in demanding a receipt. They couldn’t provide me with one and there for had to give me my money back. I wanted to speak with the owner and called him muntiple times. Never once did he return my calls. WOW!!

Dirty, poor service and lots of douchey guys. The only good thing is the live music.

great bar enviroment, always clean bathrooms, love the peanuts and popcorn. i do enjoy the live music and karaoke, the haters just dont bother to comments suck a nuts. cant wait to see the projects they coming soon.

Augie‘s bars are great! It‘ funny reading all these negative reviews coming from former employees... Employees who were fired for stealing booze and money... As far as I‘m concerned, Augie‘s a very humble person like his girlfriend. I love playing at his bars and I‘ve never had a problem...

this bars have been more consistent that most bars in campustown, bathhrooms, employee personal and karaoke or live music entertaiment. bars business has changed in campustown, to the iditios or losers that make the bad review about the owner dont hesitate and stop by to fix you up, to those who always support the bar business thank you very much will continue to give you the best us. if you ever have any issue at these bars come and talk to the owner, he will personallly make sure u will be completly satisfy so u can come back!!!!

Great bar with a friendly owner, great live music!

This bar and all of Augie‘s bars are horrible. He doesn‘t have the money to put booze on the shelf nor pay his employees. He‘s more concerned with trying to bang college girls and not pay out the bands that play there. Do yourself a favor and don‘t waste your time.

I heard capone‘s booked Joel Dangerous for Nov. 6th. The night of the Nebraska isu game. I‘ve seen them play one time and they were unreal. I guess this place is stepping it up. Last time i was at capone‘s they were out of many beers and liquors. C‘mon now.

I believe this is one of the best bars in Ames. They come up with their own ideas and their bar niche is amazing! Party like a Mobstar!! I love their love live music. I also have to admit that Capone‘s bathrooms are the cleanest! Their owner who happens to be there most of time is great! He takes the time to meet with his customers which shows how much he cares about his business. I love this bar!! I can‘t imagine why anyone would not like this bar.

I read the previous review. I worked there during the last year and never had any problem with liquor or beer being changed. Great place especially on Wed. for karaoke. Great place to hear local bands too.

Attempted to charge me $10 for 1 beer for alleged "other shots". Also admitted to filling "crown royale" bottles with 10 high and using keystone for the "bud light" tap. Avoid at all costs.

what a joke! Idk who would even go there anymore. everyone i talk to says the owner is a douche bag. they don‘t hardly have any beer or liquor. I asked for 5 drinks before i had to settle for a miller lite. who has a bar with out alcohol? I think they need to pull their heads out of their asses cuz that place sucks!!!!!!

I went in there once on a friday night, was not carded at the door, (not even approached), then went to the bar and sat there for 10 minutes before even being looked at. Then when I did finally get a look, the bartender saw me hold up money and walked the other way!
Not planning on returning anytime soon.

I think the owners are cheap and treat their employees like shit... here is a tip for you guys pay your employees for the hours they work and try to respect people other than yourselves.

If you want to have fun go to capone‘s everytime i‘m there i have a blast.

The prices are over priced.. n the owner makes the employees pour a two second pour... the owners are rude, cheap, and don‘t know how to treat their employees. Here is a tip for the owner‘s..... TREAT EVERYONE LIKE YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED..... other than that the place sucks and so do the owners...

I love the bartenders, they are nice and even when they get busy they still are kind. I was ther eone night and a couple of guys came over to the draw beer stand and pulled back every beer that they had so the beer was pouring out..and they just handled it and didnt cause a scene...thats having patience. good place, the karoke it pretty tight.

The only bad thing about this bar is their consistency to charge cover to us poor college kids. Watch out, their specials end around midnight, they will try and take advantage of us drunk kids.

Besides that, Capone‘s is a kick ass bar. Their music is always the best in Ames, ranging from hip hop to classic rock. Lastly, their popcorn rivals theatre popcorn.

Never had any problems at Capone‘s, consistently good staff working, good drink specials, good music, cleanest bathrooms for Welch Ave. bars, and always fun.

Capones is the best bar in Ames, they have show consistency in live music and entertaiment. Drinks specials are great for students and other patrons. Bathrooms are always clean and they try keep the place in order. Bartenders are good sh...they really take pride of what they do.Thats guys for bringing a good bar to campustown...

This is Larry Myer the musician. I played a show at Capone‘s a couple weeks ago and had a blast. Did some originals, some harmonica, a few intense guitar solos and everyone sang along to some classic tunes. The house PA was good and the the stage is set up right. Playing there again on Oct 24 @ 10 PM. Don‘t beleive the naysayers. This club is on the right track for Fall 2008. The scene is what you make it.

I am a fan of this bar. Three dollar wells and dollar draws; what is better then that i ask? This is the most popular bar in Ames right now. Great crowd and good bands when school is in session. Not so good when school isn‘t.

This bar used to be great, now its just the new element. Shady people go there. They must treat their staff like crap cause all the great people who used to work there either were fired or left. the manager must not know hat hes doing because he doesnt realize its the staff that makes a bar. Bring back the white shirted guy, the tall guy that looks like jim from the office, and stop making weeker than crap drinks and maybe i‘ll come back.

Just found out they fired their best bartender. I wont be going back here, service is slow now and the bartenders are rude. I miss the tall, long-haired guy.

horrible drinks!!! Seriously do I need a jumbo glass with just one shot of booze. Give me a regular sized glass if your only put one shot in it.

I really can‘t decide if I enjoy this bar or not. When its moderately crowded on the weekends, it‘s ok, although service can take a bit. Other than that it seems to be ridiculously packed and getting a drink near impossible, or completely empty and lame. Good F.A.C. specials though.

Great service, live music, good drinks. That is what makes a great bar.

I love this bar, plain and simple. I really don‘t understand why people are giving it such a bad rep. The bartenders are amazing. And it‘s always ALWAYS a good time.

This place has taken over as sorta the replacement for people‘s, since Papa‘s is really bad. Some good bands, good people, and a good time. You should go.

Maybe the cheapskate who complained about the Southern Host and Limes should pony up some money and not order only $1 house shots! I‘ve always watched them pour Southern Comfort into my shots when I order SoCo Limes. Maybe it‘s too much to expect that people realize that cheap shots are cheap for a reason.

I totally agree with the poster from April 2nd. Getting a watered-down Jack and coke and then finding out that my soco limes are really southern host and lime isn‘t my idea of a bar.

I did like this place when it first opened but now I feel that this bar isnt all its cracked up to be. Sure its packed alot of the time, but the drinks are weak and the staff looks lost most of the time. I would rather go to a bar that isnt as full and get a good drink. If you like weak drinks, poor service, and live noise check this place out.

I find it amusing that people are complaining about this place but every weekend when I‘m there, it‘s the one of the only places in Campustown that‘s packed! I think I smell "Friends of other Bars" trying to bring a cool place down? I mean, really, how is this place always wall-to-wall full and have the second lowest rating on the entire sight? You want to know what it‘s like for real? Go there and enjoy the party! I love this place and glad it came to Ames!

This place is awesome. I‘m so happy it opened! The bartenders are freaking amazing. I always have a good time. Great place with great drinks and great people!

Good service, live music, awesome atmosphere, and it is always packed. Great place to go to hang out with live music in the background or to dance later. I have never had to wait too long for a drink, ussually it is only a minute or two, but at some points in the night when they are filling up it can take a little longer, but it is never too bad of a wait. I think the longest I have waited is 5 minutes, once or twice. It has quickly become my favorite bar.

Yeah, I go there almost every week, and I‘ve never had a problem getting served. Granted, I‘ve had to wait sometimes, but it‘s always because it‘s PACKED! Cheap drinks, good service, live music... no other bar compares!

for being open this long the service still sucks. Need a better staff to better serve the customers. I don‘t mind waiting a little for drinks but 20-30 min come on....
