Brewer's

The interior is very classy/comfy. I was really looking for a nice bar that caters to an older crowd. Drinks and food ok. I do wish they would reconsider the sports TV. It doesnt really fit with the atmosphere. I had just received a good cold beer and some nice food at the bar, listening to the music at a nice level when the bartender shut it off and turned up ESPN. It was ISU playing but there are a ton of bars in town carrying the game. Call me old fashioned but do people just socialize anymore? VERY difficult for a single, mature woman or man to find a classy place to have a drink, conversation, etc. Nice place otherwise....

This would be a really good option for adults if it were not dominated by television sets. Everyone already knows where to go if they want to watch a game. What we need is a bar for the rest of the time.

I love this bar. I‘m an adult and it is nice to have an adult bar in the Ames area that isn‘t for students or the alcoholic‘s favorite place. Just sit down have a chat with friends and some wonderful cocktails. Excellent decor, too.

Awesome atmosphere, the bartender was great and fun to talk to! They had a lot beers that they dont have anywhere else in Ames. I love going here, and I have never had a negative experience here, and I am a college student!

I wish it was possible to give NEGATIVE stars! Do not believe they are open 4-2...they aren‘t even open until 12...I will never return to this establishment...it is disgraceful and VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING. Ruined my 21st birthday plans. JERKS!

Not for younger people. Over priced and I felt that everyone judged me as soon as i waked in.

Overpriced. No Character. A bunch of snooty people. West Des Moines is not what we should be modeling Somerset after. This style of neighborhood in our small town kind of makes me sick.

Love that I can actually have a conversation with friends.
The appetizers are great, had a wonderful waiter Ben who took care of the fabulous ABC sisters. This is the place for adults who behave that way. Love it Love it Love it

Clean, good selection of liquor & bottled beer. No taps. More of an ‘adult‘ bar ie-not a meat market joint. Little pricey for Ames.

I had a fantastic time there last night. I just went in for a few beers and just enjoyed the silence of a place not surrounded by college kids. I live a block away and felt like this place was made for me. Also, they have the cheapest Guiness I‘ve gotten in this town. Good Stuff.

Great Place!! Very Friendly!!! You can‘t really eat a meal there, but great appetizer selections!! The owners are constantly checking on every table and guest. I would highly recommend.
We took my sister and brother-in-law from Chicagoland. They loved it and were so jealous. Their comment, "We would love a plce like this." They do not anything like Brewer‘s in their area. They want to go everytime they are in town.

I love Brewer‘s! It‘s very clean and upscale the service is good and so is the food

If you are under the age of 40 don‘t plan on being welcomed here with open arms. Stuffy not very inviting even for the young professional.

Brewer‘s is awsome! The owners are very good people and they always make sure to hire very nice and proffessional help. My husband and I travel for a living and the first place that we want to go to start our weekend off and unwind is Brewers. It is a very relaxing atmosphere and the martinin‘s are to die for!!! As far as I am concerned this is the best bar that I have ever been to. If you want the best go to Brewers!

Class place! Great place for a date, drink, appies before or after the game. Plenty of parking and a great staff.

I as well have never had a bad experirnce at Brewers. I have always found it inviting and friendly. It‘s wide selection of drinks and expanded menu make it unique for a college town. I have taken several out of town co-workers and clients to Brewers and almost every one of them has called later and asked the name of that bar we went to.

Not sure what is uninviting about Brewer‘s. Everytime we go there (not very often since our kids‘ schedules rule our lives)they act like they have know us forever! Love the food and drinks!!!

I live in the neighborhood and have tried the place a few time. Very stuffy and uninviting. Wish we had a nice bar on the northside.

I‘ve never had a bad experience at Brewer‘s. I love that there is a bar in town that caters to people who don‘t enjoy the "college bar" atmosphere. Yes, it‘s not the cheapest place in town, they don‘t have a pool table, video games, yada, yada, yada and for good reason. I‘m happy to pay a bit more to not have to wade through a half inch of urine on the bathroom floor, or worry about some belligerent idiot starting a fight. If that‘s what you like, then there are twenty bars in campus town that will be happy to oblige. If you‘re looking for a nice clean bar to hang out with your friends, than Brewer‘s is the place. Don‘t change a thing Brewer‘s!

I agree! I live less than a block from here. Every time I walk in I feel like I don‘t belong. Not a very friendly or inviting place. I wish there was somewhere a little more fun out on this side of town!

Come on people. I live two blocks away and would never go there again. Upscale and classy??? Just over priced and snooty. Would love to see a neighborhood bar with some character and friendlyness. Maybe some day.

I was at Brewer‘s for the first time a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere was nice and the service was above average for Ames bars. My wife and I also munched on the crab dip. Great food selection for a bar. The location is not on my way home from work, but it is worth finding a new way home.

The best place in Ames to stop and have a couple drinks with a date, spouse, group of friends and be able to hear each other and not reek of smoke when you get home. Prices really are not that out of line. Attentive staff and a beer & single malt scotch selection second to none in Ames.

love brewers! it‘s a nice change of scenery from the rest of bars in town. clean, smoke free, good choice of munchies and drinks. the service is super!

This place is not catering to the college crowd, and the prices reflect that. This is one of Ames best bars for the professional crowd. Good decor, a great location and very attentive help. It is smoke-free, but there is a nice patio area just outside. This is my optimal spot to wrap up a date in Ames where you can have a drink and have a quiet conversation. Thanks Brewers, Ames needs you.

My girlfriends and I really love going to Brewer‘s for a chill night. No other place in Ames has such tasty drinks and such a variety of fun martinis and mixers! Great appetizers too! The only downside is that you might spend $9 a drink which adds up a little too fast. I wonder if they wouldn‘t be busier if they cut prices just a bit....

Great because it‘s non-smoking and clean, but seems a little sterile somehow. And not everyone goes there with a bunch of friends...so it would also be nice if there was more interaction with the staff when you sit at the bar. But I‘ll still go there for the smoke-free environment.

In my opinions the positives are about equal to the negatives. It is over-priced and the non-smoking or other bar attractions are lacking (pool table, silver strike, any sort of gaming systems). However, it is very clean, smoke free, and laid back. If you are a resident who generally doesn‘t care about price then go to this bar. If you are a college student or generally strapped for cash, go elsewhere.

Brewer‘s is the best bar in Ames. The service is excellent, and it is very laid back. Not to mention smoke-free. What a great place to hang out and have a couple of drinks.

Don‘t miss the New Year‘s Eve Party this sunday night at Brewer‘s with the Burnin‘ Sensations. Great place and great band... Should be the best time in town...

On October 21st, Brewer‘s is celebrating its 3rd Anniversary with a live band. In typical Brewer‘s style, the night should be classy with good friends and good socializing!

I too have had the chocolatini & just to clarify, Godiva Liqueur IS one of the liquid ingredients in the drink. The Hershey‘s chocolate is simply used to garnish the glass. It‘s an awesome drink! A few new menu items were a nice surprise!

I like this place ok, but was there the other night and ordered a choclatini which the menu said was made with godiva chocolate, and I saw with my own eyes the bartender use hersheys chocolate syrup. dont advertise one things and use a cheaper version!!!!!

It is so nice to be able to go to a smoke free bar and enjoy a wide variety of beers in a comfortable, clean, and friendly enviroment. Good apps. Heres to many more years! Cheers!!

I love Brewers. It‘s a little hard on the wallet, but worth every penny. Seating is comfortable, bathrooms are spic-n-span, the waitstaff is attentive and friendly, the beer selection is vast, and the drinks are good. Try a Gin Ball sometime.

Great place to go to unwind after work or to meet friends. We‘ve made a habbit of going every Friday. Great addition to Ames and perfect for the Somerset area.

This is really upscale wannabee. Crappy service in this place only exacerbates the middling attempt at class.

Because of the non-smoking the interior is clean and very nice, leather couches, etc. Best place in Ames to have a drink with a HUGE array of beers and single malt scotches.

Great non-smoking, upscale place to hang out. Drinks are expensive, but it is worth the awesome atmosphere. Leather couches and great desserts!

This is truly an excellent bar. The wine selection is great for a bar in Ames and you can actually carry on a conversation without yelling in someone‘s ear.

best bar in ames, hands down. no smoking, and no waisting your saturday night waiting in lines... excellent selection of wines and whiskeys too.
